Marko Tardito is a photographer in that category that we admire so much: one who has the courage to experiment, he combine tradition to innovation, he take arms (cameras), luggage and family to go to work in Paris to find space and opportunities closer to his way of being and photograph, to invest time and effort to understand and use social networks (on twitter you find here, his blog and this). In short, if we think of a spokesperson to represent the "photographer Jumper" he would be in the top of the list. In addition, and not little, is a friend with whom whe often share thoughts and plans.

Marko Tardito è un fotografo di quella categoria che ammiriamo tantissimo: uno che ha il coraggio di sperimentare, di unire tradizione all’innovazione, di prendere armi (fotocamere), bagagli e famiglia per andare a lavorare a Parigi per trovare spazi e occasioni più vicine al suo modo di essere e di fotografare, di investire sforzi e tempo per comprendere ed usare i social network (su twitter lo trovate qui, il suo blog è questo). Insomma, se pensiamo ad un testimonial per rappresentare il “fotografo Jumper” lui sarebbe tra i primi della lista. Inoltre, e non è poco, è un amico con il quale spesso si condividono pensieri e progetti.

Recently, Marko has published a book available on Blurb, on his project "Afrika", made with great care, and recommend to all: a great job, and the choice of using Blurb complete the vision, and potential of the proposed (do not invest in production, but only in ideas and creativity, do not print thousands of books and paper consuming and polluting, but only those who actually buy and the market demands), both from the qualitative one, because Blurb uses (so excellent) HP Indigo printing systems, which offer a yield in digital photographic wonderful. Di recente, Marko ha pubblicato un libro, disponibile su Blurb, sul suo progetto “Afrika”, realizzato con grandissima cura e che consigliamo a tutti: davvero un bel lavoro, e la scelta di usare Blurb completa la visione, sia di potenzialità della proposta (non si investe in produzione, ma solo in idee e creatività, non si stampano migliaia di libri consumando carta e inquinando, ma solo quelli che effettivamente il mercato richiede e acquista), sia da quello qualitativo, perché Blurb usa (in modo eccellente) i sistemi di stampa HP Indigo, che offrono nel digitale una resa fotografica meravigliosa. Date un’occhiata all’anteprima del libro, e se volete farvi un bel regalo o farlo a qualcuno… acquistatelo!

This book is about a journey to Africa, Tanzania and Zanzibar. It is made with some images stolen from this wonderful country. In Africa you cannot take photos of people. They don’t like being portrayed, since they believe that by being captured in photographs their soul will be stolen. I used an Olympus Pen half-frame and never framed the picture, I just simply shot what impressed me.
Questo libro parla di un passaggio nella terra d’Africa, in Tanzania e Zanzibar, con immagini rubate a questo meraviglioso paese...In Africa non puoi fotografare direttamente le persone. Non amano essere ritratte, pensando che catturandole in fotografia, in qualche modo gli si rubi l’anima. Ho utilizzato una Olympus Pen 1/2 formato e non inquadravo mai l’immagine, semplicemente mi limitavo a scattare quello che mi emozionava.

The concept of half-frame is interesting. The combination of the images created on film sometimes generates surprising compositions, that we had not always thought about. Furthermore, the composition made in an approximate, not studied and some- times inaccurate and “random” way, reflects the spontaneity that must never be lost when we look at things for the first time. That experience was full of intense emotions, and made me think on how rhythm and priorities are very different from those which we are accustomed today. This was one of my projects left in the drawer, that I wanted to work on, because you should never leave things unfinished behind you.
Il concetto stesso del 1/2 formato è interessante, l’associazione delle immagini creata sul film genera delle combinazioni alle volte sorprendenti, a cui non sempre avevamo pensato. Inoltre la composizione fatta in maniera approssimativa, non studiata e a volte imprecisa e “casuale” riflette la spontaneità che non deve mai perdersi quando guardiamo le cose per la prima volta. Quello è stato uno dei viaggi che mi ha fatto vivere delle emozioni intense, e riflettere su come i ritmi e le priorità siano davvero diversi da quelle a cui ci stiamo abituando oggi. Questo era uno di quei progetti lasciati nel cassetto, che ho voluto riprendere e lavorarci sopra, perché non bisogna mai lasciarsi le cose incompiute alle spalle.
